Endowment

A number of trusts and foundations have created endowments at the NCPA. These funds are invested by the NCPA to produce returns that are directed towards cultural activities, while preserving the original endowment within the NCPA’s corpus.

Endowments are a good way of building up the NCPA’s core reserves while generating funds for the institution over the long term.

Unrestricted endowments are administered by the NCPA’s governing Council with funds directed towards objectives in the NCPA’s Mission Statement.

Restricted endowments enable the donating body to stipulate how the funds should be spent. Restricted endowments in the following areas are especially welcome at the NCPA:

  • Endowed scholarships for the nurturing of promising young talent
  • Endowed teaching posts for the Guru Support Scheme and for Western music training
  • Endowed orchestral chairs in the Symphony Orchestra of India to attract the finest international musical talent to the NCPA

(In the case of restricted endowments, where funds are allocated for specific purposes, the principal may need to be supplemented over time in order to meet the objectives of the endowment fund.)
