Diary of a Common Man comes as a much-deserved tribute to the common man, his achievements, his strengths and weaknesses, and above all his silence. The film addresses issues from the common man’s perspective. The first story in a series is the story of a father who struggles to arrange the donation for his son’s medical education and his fight against corruption and injustice.

This documentary traces the relationship of Umar, a present day farmer and self-taught Sufi scholar from Kutch with that of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai, a medieval Sufi poet. Many of Bhitai’s poems speak of the pain of parting, of the inevitability of loss and of deep grief that takes one to unknown and mysterious terrains. Umar Haji Suleiman of Abdasa in Kutch, Gujarat lives his life through the poetry of Bhitai. So Heddan So Hoddan has won IDPA Silvers for Script, Sound Design and Cinematography.
