Audiences
Is there a minimum age for admission to NCPA events?
Children below the age of six will not be admitted to NCPA events, except in cases of special educational events for young children. Please check the NCPA’s official website or call our Box Office for more details.
Is it OK for audience members to film, photograph or record events at the NCPA?
Due to copyright restrictions, it is not possible for audience members to film, photograph or record events at the NCPA.
Can audience members enter performances once they have started?
Entrance to Indian performing arts events is permitted at any time. Admission for latecomers to Western classical music concerts is normally restricted to breaks between pieces or movements. In such cases, latecomers are requested to wait patiently until the NCPA’s ushers are able to guide them to their seats.
Is the use of mobile telephones permitted inside NCPA auditoriums?
Audience members are kindly requested to restrict their use of mobile telephones to foyer areas within the Centre. Handsets should be switched off or turned to silent mode before entering NCPA auditoriums. Making calls or messaging during events is strictly prohibited to avoid causing unnecessary disturbance for the performers and other audience members.
What parking facilities are available at the NCPA for audience members?
There are a total of 90 parking spaces available at the NCPA for audience members only. Vehicles that are driven or parked on the NCPA site are strictly at the risk of the owner.
Are any special provisions made for handicapped audience members and wheelchair users?
Special seats that allow easy access for handicapped audience members are available in Jamshed Bhabha Theatre, Tata Theatre and the Experimental Theatre. If you require these seats, please ask the NCPA Box Office when booking. An NCPA wheelchair is also available on request at Jamshed Bhabha Theatre.
Can audience members bring their own food and drink to events at the NCPA?

Outside food and drink are not permitted, however reasonably priced refreshments are available for purchase at all NCPA events. Please look out for the refreshment counters in our foyers. No food or drink may be taken inside the auditoriums.
Box Office
Can tickets be purchased online for all NCPA performances?
Tickets for selected NCPA performances are available online via www.bookmyshow.com. Tickets for the following kinds of events are not available online:
- Events for which Entertainment Tax is payable to the Government of Maharashtra, for example Western classical music concerts
- Exclusive events promoted by third parties
- Events for NCPA Members only
- Non ticketed events
Are all debit and credit cards accepted by the NCPA Box Office?
The NCPA Box Office can accept payments in cash as well as MasterCard, Visa and most debit cards. Payments using American Express cannot currently be accepted.
Does the NCPA offer home delivery for advance bookings?
Home delivery for advance bookings is available by calling BookMyShow on +91-22-3989 5050.
What current booking facilities does the NCPA offer?
In addition to current booking and collection facilities at the NCPA Box Office, these facilities are available at the entrances of the Tata Theatre and Experimental Theatre, beginning one hour before the advertised starting time of performances.
Can NCPA Members and SOI Friends exercise their priority booking and discounted rate benefits online?
NCPA Members and SOI Friends wishing to exercise their priority booking and discounted rate benefits must visit the NCPA Box Office in person.
Membership
Are there any rules about who can become an NCPA Member?
Membership of the NCPA is open to anyone, subject to payment of our Membership fees. Please see our Membership page for details.
What is the application process, and how long does it normally take?
Simply submit your completed Membership form, application fee and one passport-sized photograph to the NCPA’s Membership Office in Tata Theatre. Your Membership card and 80G receipt will be issued immediately. You can also make an initial application online via our Membership page.
Is there a minimum age limit for Membership?
Annual Membership is available for children from the age of six upwards. Applicants must be at least 18 years old to qualify for Life Membership.
What is the period of validity for an Annual Membership?
Annual Membership is valid for 12 months, from April to March. If you become a Member after April, your Membership will still only be valid until March of the next year.
How many exclusive events for Members take place each month?
The number of exclusive events varies from month to month. Please check your current copy of theOn Stagemagazine Programme Guide for details.
Can Members purchase more than one discounted ticket per event?
Discounts for some events are available to Members who show their Membership card at the NCPA Box Office when purchasing tickets. Only one discounted ticket per Member is permitted.
Is it OK for Members to purchase tickets on behalf of non Members?
Members are requested not to purchase tickets on behalf of non Members. Please note that Members may be asked to show their NCPA Membership card when attending events, and that only valid card holders will be admitted.
Can Members bring guests to exclusive Member events?
Members will be asked to show their NCPA Membership card for admission to exclusive Member events. Only valid card holders will be admitted.
Library
Is the NCPA Library open to people who are not NCPA Members?
Membership of the NCPA Library is included as part of the Centre’s Annual and Life Membership packages. Alternatively, a Library pass for one year can be purchased separately for Rs. 100/-.
Can books and other materials be borrowed from the NCPA Library?
The NCPA Library is strictly an open access reference library. Materials may be viewed in the Library during opening hours (10am to 6pm Monday to Friday excluding public holidays).
Are photocopying facilities available?
Photocopies of sections of books, full journal articles or complete plays are permitted. These copies can be made at the NCPA, for which a fee of Rs. 1/- per copy will be charged.
How do visitors access the NCPA Library catalogue?
An open access card catalogue is available for any Library visitor to use. In addition, visitors may request the Librarian to undertake a search using the NCPA’s CDS-ISIS electronic catalogue.
Are any materials available for purchase from the Library?
Back copies of selected NCPA publications are available for purchase:
- NCPA Quarterly Journal (Special Issues) Rs. 300/- per copy
- NCPA Quarterly Journal Rs. 100/- per copy
- Facts & News (Full Set / All Issues) Rs. 125/- per set

Can food and drink be consumed in the Library?
Eating and drinking are not permitted in the NCPA Library. However, visitors are welcome to consume their own refreshments in the NCPA’s outside spaces. A range of food and dining options is also available locally at hotels, shops and restaurants in the Nariman Point area.
Archives
Is it possible to access photographs from the NCPA's extensive archive of nearly 50,000 images?
Photographs from the NCPA's archives can be viewed in person in the NCPA Library. In addition, copies of all images are available for purchase in digital JPEG format:
- Rs. 50/- per photo
- Rs. 50/- per data disc

Can visitors listen to recordings from the NCPA’s collection of more than 5,000 hours of audio and visual materials?
The NCPA’s audio-visual archive catalogue can be viewed online or in person at the NCPA Library. Once you have selected the recording(s) that you want to hear, simply request and complete an application form then give it to one of the NCPA’s Librarians. They will fix an appointment for you to listen to the recording(s) at the NCPA. Please note that it may take several days to complete this process, subject to availability of the NCPA Recording Studio.
Are visitors allowed to make their own copies of NCPA archive recordings?
Due to copyright restrictions, it is illegal and thus strictly prohibited for visitors to make copies of NCPA archive recordings.
